MONTGOMERY COUNTRY CLUB COMPLETES
GOLF COURSE RENOVATION
Laytonsville, Md. – Montgomery Country Club is excited to announce the completion of a $1 million golf course renovation project. The club’s grand opening event will be held on July 4, 2008 with a member golf tournament and its traditional Independence Day Extravaganza.
The renovation improved the overall course conditions to enhance the club’s member experience. All 18 greens have been restored with Bentgrass putting surfaces and the clubhouse has been remodeled as well. Additionally, greens on holes three, four and 13 were entirely reshaped by course architect Brian Ault, the son of Ed Ault, who originally designed the course more than 40 years ago. Six new ladies’ tee boxes as well as “Family Tees” were also added to course. The new tees enable younger players to enjoy the course and promote an enjoyable family experience at Montgomery Country Club.
The renovation project demonstrates an aggressive and optimistic strategy to enhance the club’s amenities and encourage future growth in memberships. Current renovation plans at the par-72 course include the continuation of a bunker renovation project, as well as future improvements to tee boxes and the practice facility.
"We are very excited to bring these wonderful changes to our members and to enhance the experience at one of the best private clubs in the Washington D.C. area,” stated Donald DeMasters, general manager, Montgomery Country Club. “Upgrading the greens to Bentgrass will put the playing conditions on par with the pre-existing championship layout. All improvements will enhance the charming family atmosphere at the club for years to come."
Established in 1963, Montgomery Country Club is an economically priced private club, offering golfers the perfect blend of a relaxed atmosphere and championship golf. The traditional-style layout is characterized by its rolling hills and exceptional playing conditions. Montgomery Country Club also hosted the Kemper Open qualifier for 20 years and was the U.S. Open qualifying site in 1994.
