Notes for the MGA Member-Member Calcutta event Friday, July 27, 2018

A big thanks to Mike Althouse for suggesting we have a Calcutta and then offering to organize and run the game. Any questions, please direct to Mike at malth68706@aol.com

The Calcutta will start between 7 and 7:30

Each team has the first right to purchase their team at the minimum $100($50 a man). If the team decides not to buy their team, they CAN NOT buy their team back at 50%. All teams that are out bid on themselves have the right to buy back half of their team for 50% of the cost. Once the first bid of $100 is taken, each additional bid will be in increments of $20 until final bid is sold.

This is a gross and net event. We will rank the teams in order from the lowest combined handicap to the highest (show each individuals course handicap).

When you are bidding on a team, it is based on both gross and net. You are really betting that they will win one or the other. Some teams will have the opportunity to place in both.
The total pot will be divided into two (one gross and one net) and we will payout 3 spots in each one.

Players/teams have the first right of refusal to buy back 50% of their own team (they would have had to buy in at the original $100) from the Owner for 50% of the amount paid for the team. That is, Owner of the team is obligated to sell a maximum of 50% of their ownership stake to the actual team players. Owner of any team winning money is responsible for paying out to anyone to whom it sells a portion.

Owners can also sell off portions of their share of the team that they own to other investors.  Owner of any team winning money is responsible for paying out to anyone to whom it sells a portion.

The timing for events – Food information, chipping and putting contests and weekend tee time info.

Contests: We will start the Chipping and Putting Contests at 5 pm, and they will run to 6:30 pm. The cost is $20 for the chipping contest and $20 for the putting contest.  The money is for a two-man team.

Friday night you can bring your bag to the first tee. If you don’t bring your bag, and you are competing in the contests, you will need a chipping iron and a putter for events. Balls will be supplied. After the contests,  the bags will then be loaded on a cart and stored in the cart barn for Saturday tee times.

CHIPPING:  2 balls per man and 4 per team.  Team calculation of total points. Two pin locations. More details will be announced at the event

PUTTING:  We are using number 9 green with three different pin locations. Ball markers will be available. This will be an alternate shot format for the putting contest. Both players will putt to the hole; then you will select the best ball and then alternate shots until the ball is holed.

We will have a 50/50 table

Saturday will be assigned tee times starting at 9 and Sunday will be a 9 am shotgun.

Food: As we have said in previous emails, the club is hosting a large event, and we will have limited access to food.  We are serving light hors-d'oeuvres at 6:30 and there will be food available at the Snack Shack grill from 5 to 7, and as always it can be charged to your account.  The Pool Menu Will Be Available.  We will have a keg of beer,  a cash bar, and scotch and bourbon offered.
